Cinematic Lighting
Lighting is a storytelling tool. It directs the viewer's eye, establishes the time of day, and sets the emotional mood. High contrast (chiaroscuro) creates drama; soft, diffuse light creates safety.
In 3D animation, we use virtual lights to mimic real-world cinematography. In 2D, lighting is often painted or composited to add volume and atmosphere. The approach is refined during look development.
