Myth Studio Showreel Ident: Motion Design and 2D Animation

Brand Film

We created this short ident to open our showreel - a sharp intake of breath before the work begins. Its job was simple: announce Myth with intent, and do it in seconds.

Folklore sits at the heart of who we are (it's in the name, after all). So we built a rapid-fire journey through mythologies that have shaped storytelling for centuries - from the European Green Man, to Nüwa, the Chinese mother goddess with her serpentine form, to the eternal pull of Iris and Osiris. A chain of vignettes, each one folding into the next, gathering momentum as it goes.

Rather than lean on spectacle through colour, we set ourselves a constraint. The entire film plays out in monochrome. No lush palettes, no visual safety nets - just value, composition and movement doing the heavy lifting. It forced every frame to earn its place.

Once the structure was mapped in a sketched storyboard, we built a rough version in simple 3D forms. That gave us the sweeping camera action we needed before moving into frame-by-frame animation. The result is hand-drawn, but dynamic - cinematic movement wrapped in an illustrative style.

It's a small piece, but it says a lot about us. Craft-led. Story-first. Rooted in history, but propelled by motion.
